Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) is looking for a Senior Policy Advisor

Who we are:
GIE is the European association of infrastructure operators for renewable, low-carbon, and natural gases including hydrogen and biomethane. They provide solutions to foster the security of supply in Europe while enhancing the decarbonisation of Europe’s economy.
GIE works hand in hand with policymakers to design a well-functioning policy framework for citizens to benefit from a secure, efficient, and sustainable energy supply. GIE is a trusted partner of European institutions, regulatory bodies, and industry representatives. Based in Brussels, the heart of European policymaking, it has 70 members from 25 countries operating transmission pipelines, underground storage, and LNG terminals, with an increasing focus on CCUS technologies.

Your skills:

  • Experience in the gas infrastructure industry (transmission, storage or LNG), preferably in regulatory affairs and/or European energy policy;
  • Good knowledge of the European policy and legislative development processes;
  • An excellent organiser and editor working to firm deadlines;
  • Managerial and team skills;
  • Good comment on Office tools: Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Good communication skills: ability to draft press releases on topics related to their area of work;
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English, the working language in GIE;
  • Experience and network in the Brussels area (EU institutions) are recommended.
  • Diplomatic skills and political sensitivity, ability to reach compromises;
  • Ability to represent GIE in a professional and confident manner;
  • Team-work skills in a multi-cultural environment;
  • Solution-minded, creative, proactive, forward-looking;
  • Good organisational, analytical and synthesis skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.

Your missions:

  • To support GIE members in their work to define common positions at various levels: GIE Working Areas, GIE Priority topics, Plenary, Executive Committee;
  • To proactively voice these positions towards European policymakers;
  • To develop and maintain relationships with the European institutions and with other relevant stakeholders and associations in Brussels;
  • To proactively inform GIE members about all relevant developments at European level in a fast and accurate way;
  • To work cooperatively with GIE Secretary General, Secretariat, Vice-Presidents, Members, Sponsors and President, coordinating appointments and study developments, drafting communication materials while ensuring professional quality;
  • To maintain, develop and update the information provided by GIE on its public website: GIE transparency tools(REMIT, AGSI, ALSI), maps, databases, and knowledge centre;
  • To maintain, develop and update information to GIE members through the GIE membernet and the GIE Information platform

COMMUNICATION MANAGER

Gas Infrastructure Europe (GIE) is the association representing the interests of European natural gas infrastructure operators active in natural gas transmission, gas storage and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) regasification. GIE is a trusted partner of European institutions, regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders. It is based in Brussels, the heart of European policymaking. GIE currently represents 70 members companies from 25 countries.

Your responsibilities:

  • Being responsible for final review of GIE’s publications
  • Reviewing and improving public website & social media regularly
  • Cooperating with CTO on design issues
  • Handling requests from members & stakeholders
  • Illustrating the Annual Work Programme
  • Managing specific activities within the association based on the Communication Plan
  • Development and follow up of the Communication Plan
  • First point of contact for press, you have a network and can handle outreach to selected press contacts
  • Develop relations with partner organisations, media representatives and other external bodies
  • Contribute to the ongoing projects led by GIE related to communications activities
  • Supporting GIE Secretary General, President and Board in preparing public interventions (drafting speeches, interviews Q&A, etc.)
  • Reviewing and managing the Communication Advisor’s tasks
  • Support the GIE Public Affairs & Communication WG.
  • Preparing and managing the meetings
  • Drafting and issuing the calendar invitations & minutes of meetings
  • Ensuring coordination between all Columns
  • Overseeing the alignment of positions within GIE Storyline
  • Coordinating outreach to stakeholders with Policy Manager
  • Collaborating with Events Manager in preparing the events programmes (content wise)

Your profile:

  • Native English level, both written and spoken (prerequisite)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Sociable
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and effective delivery
  • Excellent state of the art MS Office 365 skills (especially Outlook and Excel; OneDrive and SharePoint beneficial)
  • A bachelor’s degree (master’s degree preferred) in Communications, Marketing, Social Sciences, Energy with a focus on Communications or similar 5 – 10 years of experience in Marketing, Communications or similar field within an association
