GIE Annual Conference 2020

Dear Madam,
Dear Sir,

On behalf of Jean-Marc Leroy, President of GIE, we are pleased to invite you to the 18th GIE Annual Conference in Lucerne, Switzerland, on 17 and 18 September 2020.

Your Swiss hosts welcoming you in 2020 are : Erdgas OstschweizErdgas Zentralschweiz, GAZNATGasverbund MittellandSwissgas and Transitgas.

Key topics for the 2020 GIE Conference will be: methane emissions, smart sector integration, TEN-E, the future of LNG terminals, the role of energy storages in decarbonization, innovation and digitalization.

Switzerland lies in the heart of Europe, giving it a prime position for the European natural gas markets. Its gas network fullfills a unique role by connecting different European countries, such as The Netherlands, Germany, Italy and France. The reverse flow represents an important step to natural gas supply diversity and security, for both Europe and Switzerland, allowing regional companies to transport and deliver high-pressure natural gas across the country.

With a consistent forward-looking vision in the field of gas and energy, Swiss companies invest in the research & development of future technologies and energy system solutions. The well-developed gas networks in Europe and the complementary function of renewable and natural gas make the gas infrastructure well positioned to play an important role in building a greener future.
