Gas Storage Europe (GSE) members re-elect Lubor Veleba as their President

February 5, 2018

The Plenary of Gas Storage Europe (GSE) re-elected Lubor Veleba as GSE President for a second term of two years. Lubor Veleba has been member of the GSE ExCom since 2005 and GIE Board member from 2011.

In addition, GSE Plenary re-elected GSE ExCom members: Cécile Prévieu (Storengy, France), René Zwanepol (TAQA, The Netherlands) and László Fritsch (Hungarian Gas Storage, Hungary).

Since 2007, Lubor Veleba is a Director at innogy Gas Storage, s.r.o. with responsibility for the sales and finance aspects of innogy’s gas storage business in the Czech Republic. In his previous roles at RWE, Mr Veleba was involved in regulatory affairs in the Czech Republic and his tasks included a 5-year regulatory review and developing market principles for the planned liberalization of the Czech gas market. Lubor Veleba also serves as a member of the board of Czech Gas Association.

Lubor Veleba said: “Gas Storage Europe will continue to be a trusted partner to the EU institutions in delivering the energy vision for Europe. GSE has worked hard on transparency issues with its AGSI+ platform and will continue its work on the future gas market design and the role of gas storage in the future world of green energy.”

And he added: “I highly value the contributions of all GSE member companies. The coming years will be busy and challenging but I look forward to working with a team of dedicated people who can add value to the European energy debate.”

Note to editors

Gas Storage Europe (GSE) represents the interests of 30 Storage System Operators with around 101 storage sites in 16 countries in Europe, representing approximately 1 298 TWh, i.e. 92% of EU technical storage capacity. GSE is one column of GIE, Gas Infrastructure Europe, the European association of the Transmission, Storage and LNG terminal Operators.

GSE is committed to improving the regulatory and investment framework for storage activities in order to help its members to continue providing secure, efficient and valuable storage services to the market.
