CO₂necta is a pioneering project developed by Enagás, Holcim España and Saggas to decarbonise hard-to-abate industrial sectors.
The project will capture CO₂ emissions from Holcim’s cement plant in Sagunto. The captured CO₂ will then be transported through Enagás infrastructure to the Saggas LNG terminal, where it will be liquefied.
Once liquefied, the CO₂ will be transported by ship to geological storage sites for permanent storage. The project will also handle biogenic CO₂, supporting the production of renewable fuels such as e-methanol and biofuels.
CO₂necta brings together industrial capture, transport infrastructure, terminal operations and maritime shipping in an integrated carbon management chain. In addition to reducing industrial emissions, the project is expected to support industrial transformation and contribute to local and national economic development.
