📍“In order to maintain #securityofsupply, a sufficient level of #gasstorage capacity must be maintained in a coordinated manner”.

That’s what @schmoltzer, GIE Value of Storage WG chair, highlighted at the #IPS2023 in Milan.

As natural gas demand decreased by 8% y to y in the OECD, #TimGould put the attention to the evolution of Chinese gas demand 📈 and its impact on #LNG markets and wholesale #prices, especially as Europe is going to be more and more exposed to spot prices.

@wavestoneFR @Energy4Europe @MWorsdorfer @csikow @AdinaRevol Last year the EU understood the importance and value of the underground gas #storage while 5 years ago the assets were seen by many as stranded assets, said @TorbenBrabo.

SunsHyne Corridor initiative

By: Snam, TAG, Eustream, NET4GAS and OGE.

SunsHyne Corridor is a strategic infrastructure initiative that will enable the transport of green hydrogen from production areas in North Africa to demand centres in Central Europe. Five leading European gas transmission system operators – Snam, TAG, Eustream, NET4GAS and OGE – are working together to implement this important segment of the European Hydrogen Backbone to provide the energy market with a sustainable solution – still available and affordable green hydrogen.

The corridor consists of mainly repurposed pipelines – a share of 86 % -and stretches over 3400 km. The project aims to be operational by 2030, which will enable hydrogen import from high-potential hydrogen production areas to expected demand centres in Southern Germany and along the route in Italy, Austria, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic.

The project could make a significant contribution to REPowerEU’s target of importing 10 million tonnes of green hydrogen into the EU by 2030. The SunsHyne Corridor initiative is open for cooperation with hydrogen producers, large hydrogen consumers and other gas infrastructure companies to implement a hydrogen value chain in Central Europe.
